About me
I am assistant professor in computer science at NC State University, with a joint appointment in the department of computer science and the bioinformatics research center. My interests are Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. I am currently working on the analysis of alternative splicing in human, and on the design of algorithms for conserved gene orders.

Previously, I was post doc at University of California, San Diego with Pavel Pevzner. I
did my PhD thesis in the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) under the supervision of Martin Vingron and Joerg Hoheisel.

Curriculum vitae (pdf or postscript)
Bioinformatics Research
I am interested in applying computer science and mathematics to bioinformatical problems. My current research focuses on algorithms to compare and analyze gene order permutations, and on the analysis of alternative splicing. Please visit the Alternative Splicing Gallery (ASG) to see some of my recent work about alternative splicing.

Liedchen

Die Zeit vergeht,
Das Gras verwelkt,
Die Milch entsteht,
Die Kuhmagd melkt.

Die Milch verdirbt.
Die Wahrheit schweigt.
Die Kuhmagd stirbt.
Ein Geiger geigt.

Joachim Ringelnatz
Ditty

The time passes,
The grass withers,
The milk develops,
The cow farm servant milks.

The milk spoils.
The truth is silent.
The cow farm servant dies.
A violonist plays the violin.

Gruselett

Der Flügelflagel gaustert
durchs Wiruwaruwolz,
die rote Fingur plaustert
und grausig gutzt der Golz.

Scariboo

The Winglewangle phlutters
through widowadowood,
the crimson Fingoor splutters
and scary screaks the Scrood.
